Organic Cotton Circular

Publication of International Trade Centre about the market for organic cotton fibre, textiles and clothing

12.2007, Alexandra Perschau

The organic cotton topic has arrived on the agenda of the international trade organisations: This year, the International Trade Centre (ITC) commissioned a report, which analysed the global market for organic cotton fibre, textiles and clothing.

The 48 pages technical paper includes figures for organic cotton production, trade and consumption, presents the geographical markets for organic cotton fibre and textiles, describes the involvement of large brands and retailers and reviews important sales markets in the USA and in Europe. A SWOT analysis of the global organic cotton market completes the report.

The International Trade Centre (ITC) is a joint technical cooperation agency of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). Strategic objectives of the organisation are to strengthen the international competitiveness of enterprises, to develop the capacity of trade service providers to support businesses and to support policymakers in integrating the business sector into the global economy.
