  Die EU Gremien beraten über einen Kommissionsentwurf für eine Biozid-Verordnung, die zukünftig die Zulassung und Verwendung von Haushaltsinsektiziden, Holzschutzmitteln, Desinfektionsmitteln, u.v.a. regulieren soll. Das Positionspapier benennt die zentralen, gemeinsamen Kernforderungen von europäischen Umwelt-, Natur- und Verbraucherschutzverbände zur Ausgestaltung der EU-Biozidgesetzgebung.

  Proposal of the European Commission for a regulation concerning the placing on the market and use of biocidal products – COM (2009) 267 final

  PAN Germany, PAN Europe and PAN UK comment the proposed provisions for low-risk products, cut-off criteria, comparative assessment and criteria for substitution. Council working group for environment deliberated on these issues at the 26th October 2009.

  Proposal of the European Commission for a regulation concerning the placing on the market and use of biocidal products – COM (2009) 267 final

  At 15 October 2009 the Council working group for environment discussed on a proposal for an EU biocide regulation to further prepare key issues for the forthcoming meeting of the Council for environment: Provisions concerning the simpflification of the authorisation and with respect to articles treated with biocides.

  In ccoperation with PAN Europe and PAN UK PAN Germany has drafted a position on this occasion. While we urge to significantly improve the proposed provisions for authorisation we welcome the requirements for treated articles.

  This exibition is intended to raise awareness about the dilemma of people in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia who live close to dumps containing obsolete pesticides.

  The photos show the situation in its full reality, and the exhibition extends an invitation to the audience to support the elimination of obsolete pesticides around the globe. It calls for the sound management of pesticides and more sustainable methods of pest control, as this will help avoid building up new stocks of obsolete pesticides in the future.

• DDT und die Stockholmer Konvention - Staaten am Rande der Legalität

  PAN Germany Studie

  Ziel der Stockholmer Konvention ist, langlebige und gleichzeitig giftige Chemikalien weltweit zu verbieten, hierzu zählt auch DDT. Dieses Insektizid wird jedoch weiterhin in der Malariabekämpfung eingesetzt. Die neue PAN Germany Studie zeigt, dass sich viele Staaten und Geldgeber nicht den Vorgaben der rechtlich verbindlichen Stockholmer Konvention verhalten.

• DDT and the Stockholm Convention - States on the edge of non-compliance

  PAN Germany study published in cooperation with PAN Africa and PAN North America

  Objective of the Stockholm Convention is to protect human health and the environment from persistent organic pollutants by eliminating such chemicals globally. One of these hazardous chemicals is DDT – which is still being used in vector control programs. This study shows that many players and financiers of malaria control programs do not comply with the requirements of the Stockholm Convention.
